Foxmain Associates on the coming shake-up to Self Assessment

← The Journal

A characteristically clear-eyed note from the Westbury-on-Trym practice on proposals to move Income Tax Self Assessment closer to real time.

No.20 member Foxmain Associates has been reading the small print again, so the rest of us need not. The government is consulting on proposals that would ask many Income Tax Self Assessment taxpayers to pay closer to real time from April 2029.

As Foxmain set out, those with PAYE income would settle estimated liabilities through monthly deductions, while self-employed people and landlords could move to monthly or quarterly payments on account. The stated aim is to spread the burden and curb late payment. Read the full note on the Foxmain Associates website.
