Life After the Forces — Lunch with Sgt Craig Harrison

No.20 welcomes Sergeant Craig Harrison — the Household Cavalry sniper whose 2,475-metre shot in Helmand Province set the world record for the longest confirmed kill in military history — for a lunch unlike any other. Craig joined the Blues and Royals at sixteen and served on the front line in Iraq and Afghanistan, an extraordinary career told in his bestselling memoir The Longest Kill. But it is what came afterwards that he speaks about most powerfully: leaving the Army in 2014, the long fight back from post-traumatic stress, and the work of rebuilding a life and a purpose beyond the forces — today through his charity, the Maverick Survival School, which helps fellow veterans do the same. Expect a candid, moving and at times wry account of resilience, recovery and reinvention. Guests arrive from 12.30pm for a 1pm sit-down; a three-course lunch is served in the dining room, followed by Craig's talk and questions. Tables of eight — £650 + VAT per table. Members are warmly encouraged to bring guests.
