DBM Wines is an independent wine merchant at the heart of Clifton Village, trading from a treasure-trove of a shop on Princess Victoria Street and online across the UK. Established in 2009, the firm was founded on a simple philosophy: wonderful wine, sold by people who know their stuff but are never stuffy about it.
Relationships sit at the centre of the business. DBM deals personally with its growers, sourcing direct from producers and estates it knows and trusts — wines the team can not only recommend but love to drink themselves. The range is extensive and at times eclectic, yet deliberately curated: experience is used to sort the wheat from the chaff and find real value without compromising on quality.
The shop itself reflects that openness. The front is given over to everyday wines and great offers for a quick bottle before dinner; further back, the shelves unfold by region, inviting customers to explore the treasures each area has to offer.
Beyond the shelves, DBM offers tastings, en primeur releases, fine wine and cellar advice, gift and corporate services, and wine for investment — with first-class guidance at every step. Whether it is a bottle for supper tonight or a case for the cellar, one rule holds: DBM never sells an unexciting, dull wine.
The firm is led by partners Aidan Bell, Richard Davis and Edward Clarke, whose careers span Averys, Waitrose, Bibendum and the City of London Vintners — decades of trade experience worn lightly, in the service of Bristol wine lovers.
